Hi s60certkey =)

Thanks again for the cert and key you sent me a bit over 6 months ago :yahoo

Ive signed quite a few things and its been very useful. However today Ive had a problem with 2 releases of C2Doom v1.15 one binpda and also another version by someone else (cant remem who atm). (tried v1.14 as well with no joy) I even tried getting the core version which is freeware and had exactly the same prob.
All 4 files were placed in one folder. signtools 2.2 was run as administrator (vista64 machine) I got the success message as per usual. However whenever I try to install it on the phone I get a expired certificate message. After reading thru this forum I did the cert check against my IMEI and it confirmed the cert. as valid for my IMEI. Is there something in the v22 firmware for the N97 that stops it working? Ive tried mobile signer, pot tool signer, freesigner, signtools 2.2 (from here) and theyve all given me either expired cert. or cert. error messages. Tried unsigning it and resigning it both with signtools 2.2 and freesigner and still got nowhere. Is there a lifespan on the key ive got from here? Is the new firmware the problem? I cant seem to figure out what ive done wrong.....

Any insight you can offer would be greatly appreciated thanks.
Finally found a way to get a few more FPS's on it and Im stuck installing it :| lol......

This isnt the nick i got the key under, ive kind of forgotten what my login was... oooops hahaa

Hmm im not sure, if its firmware youll need to google it as thats always changing. I.e. some firmwards are not hackable but with the N97 im not sure as ive recently swapped from that phone. Certs and keys are valid from 3yrs from here.

Thank you, worked like a charm.

Only worried about one thing, my Avira and VirusTotal report file signtools 2.2.exe as a trojan.

Any info about that?

Hi,

its a false warning as is previously said. I know its a long thread (22 pages) but if you read through it, you'll see that its false claims because of the behaviour of the signing tool, i.e. it WRITES to files.

As for an alternative, sadly not. Again if you read through you'll see why it has to be done in this way.

Without writing it all again, Symbian dont like websites giving out certs and keys. As far as they are concerened you SHOULDNT have 100% access to your own phone. As most are aware we are now in an era where we have open-source software phones like Maemo on the N900 which dont require certs/keys etc but for Symbian phones sadly this isnt the case.

When we first launched our certs and keys were normal and NOT encrypted. The problem with this is, is that within every cert and key there is a Publisher ID number. This number shows where the cert and key was generated, and that how licenses are revoked by Symbian.

Our new system, encrpys the certs and keys so they cant be read by notepad++ etc. This means that the publisher ID isnt shown and the license cant be revoked which in turn allows us to give you, and other members their certs and keys.

Im not sure why i put "without writing it all again" as i just have but i hope this clears things up a bit.
